Classify plastics by using properties
According to the use of plastic different characteristics, generally can be divided into general plastics, plastics and special plastic three types.
① General Plastics
Generally refers to the production of large, wide use, molding good, inexpensive plastics. General Plastics have five varieties, namely polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer (ABS). They're all thermoplastic.
② Engineering Plastics
Generally refers to the ability to withstand a certain external force, with good mechanical properties and high resistance, low temperature performance, good dimensional stability, can be used as engineering structures of plastics, such as polyamide, Polysulfone and so on.
In the engineering plastics, it is divided into general Engineering Plastics and special Engineering Plastics two major categories.
General Engineering Plastics include: polyamide, POM, polycarbonate, modified polyphenylene ether, thermoplastic polyester, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, methyl isoprene polymer, vinyl alcohol copolymer and so on.
Special Engineering Plastics have cross-linked type of non-crosslinking.
Crosslinking type: Poly-amino bismaleimide, poly triazine, cross-linked polyimide, heat-resistant epoxy tree finger. The non-crosslinking type is: Polysulfone, polyether sulfone, polyphenylene sulfide, polyimide, polyether ether ketone (peek) and so on.
③ Special Plastics
Generally refers to the special function, can be used in aviation, aerospace and other special applications of plastics. such as fluorine plastics and silicone has prominent high temperature, self-lubricating and other special functions, enhance plastics and foam plastics have high strength, highly cushioning and other special properties, these plastics are the category of specialty plastics.
A. Strong plastics: reinforcement of plastic materials can be classified into granular (such as calcium-plastic reinforced plastics), fibrous (such as glass fiber or glass cloth reinforced plastics), flake (such as mica reinforced plastics) three.
